Nest

A complete home renovation focused on making an existing house more functional, cohesive, and personal.

Nest was a renovation where Narah worked with the existing structure rather than starting from scratch. The spaces were reworked around how the family actually lived, with existing elements retained and redesigned wherever possible. In the living and sit-out area, we created a custom seating unit that incorporates a built-in pet crate, introduced a swing against a white brick wall, and used soft arches and minimal panelling to create continuity across the home. Traditional teak poles brought from Kerala were designed in an abacus-like arrangement to act as a light divider between the living room and sit-out without completely closing either space.

The TV unit was redesigned using jute laminate, warm wood tones, and marble-finish laminate. In the kitchen, the existing structure was retained while the shutters were replaced in a sage green and brown combination, allowing the family to continue living in the house during the renovation. The dining area was reworked with new crockery storage, an existing unit was redesigned internally and externally, and the client's dining table was given a new teakwood top. Even the utility was completely reorganised, transforming a previously cluttered corner into a practical storage area. Across the home, teak, jute, white brick, sage green, and warm finishes were used to create a connected but lived-in interior.
