Curated for a couple stepping into retirement and with their children visiting them frequently, the home was a culmination of all the ideas the lady of the home had for her retirement space. Inspired by traditional elements after having explored a minimalistic approach in their earlier home, our design marker for this home was to make it classy and subtle with plethora of hues. The Oonjal in the living becoming the fulcrum of the home, dictates the tone of for the rest of the space.

The tapestry frame with the clients heirloom sarees completed the traditional look of the living rom. Transforming the living room in this apartment was the main focus in the project as we had to incorporate quite a few different, contrasting elements with the space. We had to accommodate the Oonjal made with our in-house hand block printed fabric and paired with traditional brass chains which was the focal point and around the large L seater with a cute window seater - allowing the clients to have different seating corners around one space such that it can accommodate their large family.

The TV unit was designed to be kept simple and under budget, so we decided to add some freshness by creating a chrome yellow band that ran accross the house as a concept, which starts in the living room. We complemented the pop colour in the background with subtle floral fabric, sandwich glass doors to balance the aesthetic of the room.
